Celebrating André Ricard's 90th birthday, Santa & Cole

Content Strategist, Storytelling

Designer, intellectual, author, professor and president of the NGO Design for the World, André Ricard's indefatigable professional career is characterised by the design of everyday objects that make our lives easier. On the occasion of his 90th birthday, we sat down with him to review his career through some of his most outstanding designs, including Tatu, the 1970s pop art icon re-edited by Santa & Cole. This very special campaign comprised content series created to convey the editor's profound admiration for the designer, and to highlight his unfathomable influence on the development of industrial design in Spain.

In developing this campaign, we were joined by collaborators of the stature of María José Balcells, curator of the archives of the Barcelona Design Museum, who interviewed André Ricard; Iris Humm, lifestyle photographer, who captured the designer in his day-to-day environment; and Josep Pardo, director of photography and camera operator of the short film entitled The Designers Inspiration. We also highlight the involvement of Olivia Ricard, André's daughter and the founder of the Slowkind agency, who was also responsible for devising and producing the campaign.

To maximise and hone the campaign's visibility, we developed a dissemination strategy based on the target audience and the chosen channels. The campaign was disseminated through Santa & Cole's own channels, by means of organic and paid campaigns, and also through third-party channels, especially retailers, as well as in the press. Notably, in the month after the launch, André Ricard was featured on the cover of Fuera de Serie, the magazine of leading Spanish business daily, Expansión.
