Lámina by Antoni Arola, Santa & Cole

Content Strategist, Storytelling

Narrative quality

Proportion, balance and reflected light that builds an atmosphere: the mise-en-scène. I had the opportunity to collaborate in creating the campaign for the Lámina lighting range, designed by Antoni Arola for product editors Santa & Cole. We aimed to produce meaningful and moving content to convey the concepts and functionalities that define these pendant lamps, as well as the exquisite embodiment of simplicity, lightness and elegance harnessed by Arola in designing the Lámina range. From texts, sketches and renderings to images on set and in their ambience, we worked painstakingly on the creativity and key messages so as to achieve a proper understanding of the various models and highlight the versatility of the system. The idea was to convey the uncompromising commitment to product quality, in a feat of seduction through various channels and formats. Because, like it or not, it is our emotions that determine our behaviours, including our purchase decisions.

In 2020, the year following its launch, Lámina won the ADI-FAD Award.

A balance between poetry and reason

Antoni Arola plays though design and designs through play. Considered one of the most interesting European designers of his generation, this ‘poet of light’, as he is known, elevates us with his work to a dimension that transcends the functional. Arola merges artistic experimentation with research into how light works. It is a mysterious endeavour that extends beyond the conscious and the unconscious. It is a matter of registers, sometimes even of invisible variables, that make up reality.

In smaller or larger sizes, alone or in a system, we present Lámina: a line of light and a thin sheet create a soft but effective levity in a system that, in all its formats, upholds the benefits of reflected light. Using simple and obvious shapes that conceal nothing and show everything, Lámina fulfils a variety of purposes. Alone, it provides a single diffused light, and as part of series, an impeccable general light. A play on poetry and reason that does not aim to dazzle.
