Based on a sound understanding of the history and industry of design, I had the opportunity to help convey the milestones and values of pioneering contemporary rug design brand, nanimarquina. I also contributed to the interpretation and dissemination of the experiences, emotions and feelings as told by Nani Marquina herself, as well as developing the discourse and messages on the brand’s sustainability on the occasion of its obtaining Climate Neutral certification and the launch of its first circular collection, Re-Rug.

The beginnings – when Spain's dictatorship ended and democracy was installed, a number of revolutions—economic, social and political—completely transformed the country. It was a time of extraordinary vitality, often described as the age of the design boom. And it was against this backdrop that Nani Marquina founded her eponymous company, breaking into the market with what, at the time, was a ground-breaking vision: transforming the classic rug into a contemporary design feature.

Unique vision – Nani Marquina is synonymous with women's empowerment and vision because when she created the company that bears her name, she broke with the standards of the time. In those days, the incipient profession of industrial designer and that of the entrepreneur were both reserved for men. However, this did not stop her from going into business, designing and marketing her products, and later venturing to move production to India, bringing to light the boundless possibilities of true craftsmanship and the cultural value of rugs.
